Aspiring Aviators “OG” Camp

Joy Factory Learning is excited to announce that Aspiring Aviatiors Club is now being offered at FRG (Republic Airport in Farmingdale) at the beautiful facilities of the Nassau Flyers flight school. We will have tours of the facilities, access to their fleet of modern Cirrus aircraft, we’ll get to meet experienced and student pilots as well as aircraft mechanics and more.

Plus students will complete all parts of the core Aspiring Aviators Summer Camp, including; an overview of aviation, how it all got started, the sectors of aviation, types of aircraft, aircraft engines, the parts of an airplane, cockpit controls, and how we stay safe in the sky. We cover how airplanes fly by learning about the 4 forces of flight, the, the directional movements an aircraft can make and what controls those movements. Students will also learn how weather affects flight, the instruments pilots use to navigate in bad weather and the FAA guidelines for doing so. We will even play Air Traffic Controller to practice the procedures for communication in the sky.

This is a very interactive program with lots of hands on activities to reinforce our learning (including building our own giant carboard airplane/glider, drone flying and more. We will have guest speakers from different sectors of aviation and 2 field trips (transportation not included).

Aspiring Aviators Cadet Camp

This is the more advanced version of our signature program, The Aspiring Aviators. These”cadets” already know and understand the four forces of flight, the directions of movement, the phonetic alphabet, as well as all of the basic parts of the aircraft. During this camp they will dive deeper into these concepts expanding their knowledge to the student pilot level putting all of this theory to the test through even more hands on activities.

This camp will include guest speakers, aircraft familiarization (including performing a guided A/C oil change), as well simulator instruction, optional field trips and more.

** Students in this session must have attended the Aspiring Aviators “OG” Camp. **

Castle Club campers meet at one of our south shore beaches each day for a week to have some sandcastle science and fun. We talk about what it takes to get those sand grains to really compact down and stick together and then I show you the tricks of the trade with my special sandcastle shaping tools.
